Detailed PKR Review
A detailed review of PKR’s Online Poker
Started in 2006, PKR Online Poker has taken the online poker world by storm. The award winning site has won plaudits across the online poker playing community. So what is the secret behind the success.
The game was founded with one vision, and that was to make online poker “feel” like a real game. To that end, the developers have designed avatars to represent the player in the game. They are fully customisable in terms of there appearance and clothing. Even the faces can be changed to make them a hundred percent unique. To make the avatars more complete, the players control them using the ‘emote control’ design engine. This allows interaction between the players, making tantrums at losing a winning hand, or distracting a player by flashing a tattoo, possible. The players have a buddy list and as far as online socialising goes, this is as good as any 3D online platform that I have seen. Arguably though, the most striking and realistic feature of the avatar, is when the player looks at his hole card, the avatar does too. This is seen by the other players at the table, and to an experienced player, this tell, tells them a lot.
The game attracts a lot of new players, and players who just want to experience an interactive, community poker site. Traditionally, this was the typical type of player in the 3D poker world. As PKR has introduced bigger cash pot tournaments, more seasoned pros are gravitating towards the site. This has enabled the site to boast that at its busiest periods it has up to ten thousand players playing on the site. Over a million people are registered users at PKR 3D Online Poker.
The game play is very smooth. The camera can be positioned anywhere around the table, and can even follow the play of the game like a televised tournament if desired. The backdrops to the casinos can be altered or changed, and that is if you decide to play in a casino in the first place.
One of the reasons the site is expanding is that PKR has introduced a good range of tournaments. There are big cash pot multi-player tables, satellite tables, cash tables, and 24/7 rolling Sit and go tables. The multi-player tables offer cash pots to suit all budgets and level of player. They have had the sense to lay out a clear schedule of tournaments so start times, rules and durations are clear. They have cleverly incorporated entry into them from their bonus and reward scheme. Their satellite tables lead into big money tournaments, and are configured around single and multiplayer competitions. The cash tables cater for big and small budgets also. The Sit and go tables generally offer two kinds of games and have been designed for players that want to compete in tournaments but either do not have the time to play in one, or cannot make the start time. They begin as soon as a table fills up and as mentioned earlier, fall into two category of games. The speed games have the blinds raised every hand so that aggressive play is enforced, and the raise of stake in each hand keeps the game moving. The other game has been designed to be drawn out and requires cautious play to avoid elimination. As the last five players remaining get paid out, tactics tend to be about survival, like a satellite game. Intriguingly, PKR has introduced a some interesting variations on the traditional game. Terminator Extreme for example, gives every player a bounty. If a player eliminates another player from the game, that bounty is added to that players bounty. Of course the more the player eliminates the more bounty he or she acquires, and the more juicy a target he or she becomes.
