As good as multi-table tournaments are, they do take a long time to play. Not everyone has three hours or more to spare for a game of poker, or can make the start time of the tournament, so if you can’t spare the time, or you cannot be there for the start, you simply won’t get to play.
To solve this problem, PKR has developed a range of games that fall into the category of Sit and go tables. The idea being that to play, you choose from a long list of games that suits your style and amount of time you have, and as soon as the table fills up, you are away. There is no official start time and the good thing about the Sit and go scene, is that you have the advantage of speed without losing the excitement of multi-table poker, as there is money to be won, and a variation in games. This all adds up to exciting, quality poker.
The games have been developed to cater for all tastes. Some of the games are played with speed being a key factor, so that each game is over fairly fast. This intensifies the excitement and makes you play with more aggression. Others offer a slower game where a completely different strategy is called for. Two new games that are whipping up a storm in the Sit and go arena right now are Winner Takes All. The name makes the game self explanatory and to win, you must use all your poker wits to claim the only prize. Buy-ins range from $2 to $20 dollars so all level of players are catered for. Nerves of steel will be needed to keep from going under and keeping one step ahead of your opponents. Good luck, but I guess good players make their own.
The second is the opposite to Winner Takes All. Double Thru calls for players to adopt a satellite style approach as survival is the name of the game. The last five players standing win the prize. Buy-in ranges from $5-50 dollars, so again there is something for everyone.
If these two games do not give you the poker adrenalin high you are used to, then why not try Terminator Extreme. Each player has a bounty and if you knock that player out of the game you claim his or her bounty as your own. The more bounty you accumulate, the more you are worth, and therefore the more other players will be gunning for you. Sounds fun, doesn’t it.
The tables work on a 24/7 basis so, if no matter what time you want to play, there is always someone for you to win a small fortune from.
With all the games in the Sit and go section buy-ins and pots vary, as do the rules. It is one of the great things about Sit and go tables, as we would not want them to be boring now, would we.
